Neural Networks for Collective Translational Invariant Object Recognition
نویسنده
چکیده
A novel method using neural networks for translational invariant objects recognition is described in this paper. The objective is to enable the recognition of objects in any shifted position when the objects are presented to the network in only one standard location during the training procedure. With the presence of multiple or overlapped objects in the scene, translational invariant object recognition is a very difficult task. Noise corruption of the image creates another difficulty. In this paper, a novel approach is proposed to tackle this problem, using neural networks with the consideration of multiple objects and the presence of noise. This method utilizes the secondary responses activated by the backpropagation network. A confirmative network is used to obtain the object identification and location, based on these secondary responses. Experimental results were used to demonstrate the ability of this approach.

Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have been successfully applied to many tasks such as digit and object recognition. Using convolutional (tied) weights significantly reduces the number of parameters that have to be learned, and also allows translational invariance to be hard-coded into the architecture. In this paper, we consider the problem of learning invariances, rather than relying on ha...
متن کاملThree-dimensional object representation and invariant recognition using continuous distance transform neural networks
3D object recognition under partial object viewing is a difficult pattern recognition task. In this paper, we introduce a neural-network solution that is robust to partial viewing of objects and noise corruption. This method directly utilizes the acquired 3D data and requires no feature extraction. The object is first parametrically represented by a continuous distance transform neural network ...
متن کاملWorking Memory Networks for Learning Temporal Order, with Application to 3-D Visual Object Recognition
Working memory neural networks are characterized which encode the invariant temporal order of sequential events. Inputs to the networks, called Sustained Temporal Order REcurrent (STORE) models, may be presented at widely differing speeds, durations, and interstimulus intervals. The STORE temporal order code is designed to enable all emergent groupings of sequential events to be stably learned ...
متن کاملComparing Neural Networks, Invariant Moments and Mathematical Morphology Performances for the Automatic Object Recognition
Pattern recognition is an essential part of any high-level image analysis system. The CRPSM, in the framework of the European Projects GMOSS and GMOSAIC, has developed some techniques able to automatically recognize and extract potential made-man structures which could be present in complex aerial and satellites images. In particular, this paper aims at describing several of the developed techn...
